Safe Routes to School programs often start with encouragement programs that are meant to get people to try walking or biking to school. Starting with a simple fun event that builds interest and enthusiasm. It will attract attention and support for more activities, more people and and ultimately, behaviour change. As a parent, you may want to consult this flyer from ODOT to determine if your child is ready to travel to school on their own.
